***Next Meeting - Tuesday, May 28th***We would like to invite you to our next PTA meeting on TUEDSAY, May 28th @ 8:15 in the MPR. It is important to have parents involved, this where we make decisions regarding the monies spent, what events we will be holding etc. Parents are welcome to bring their young ones. We will have crayons and paper to color on for them.
Box Tops, Tyson Project A+ & Labels for Education - CONTEST HAPPENING NOW Thru May 30th!!!
Three lucky students will win a pair of Regal Cinema movie tickets, PLUS the class that brings in the most total labels will WIN A FREE PIZZA PARTY FOR THEIR CLASS! Turn in any of the following and your name will be entered in to a drawing for a chance to win a prize. The more you turn in, the more chances you have to WIN!!! ~10 Box Tops (please trim, count and put in a baggie labeled with the student's name and their teacher's name. NO EXPIRED LABELS PLEASE.) ~10 Labels for Educations Labels ~Every single Tyson Project A+ Label. So, if you turn in 20 Box Tops and 10 LFE and 1 Tyson Labe your name goes in the drawing FOUR times! This contest is for all students in all grades (K thru 6th grade). Make sure you write your name and your teacher's name on each entry. Contest ends May 30, 2013. PTA NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!Rosedell PTA needs your help in filling various committees for the 2013-2014 school year. We invite all Rosedell parents to join in, help out and make a difference!
Being on a committee means helping out with that event or function-- whether in a Lead role or simply giving a few hours of time and talent to support the effort. Committees work as a team and have the support and guidance of veteran PTA members, as well as each other. And, it's a great way to: * Meet other Rosedell families * Become familiar with the PTA and to better understand the role it plays at Rosedell and with our students. * Show support * Make a difference * HAVE FUN! Below is a list of open positions. Please forward all questions, names and suggestions to Pattie Foster at at 661 877-5329 or taxifor6@yahoo.com. OPEN POSITIONS Treasurer- this position is year round, they keep the financial records for the PTA and must be able to balance finances. Legislative - Leaning about current legislation that affect the PTA and keeping the unit updated. Most of the information can be found on the CA PTA website. Earth Day - is in April gathering age appropriate information regarding Earth day . Publicity - alert the media outlets when newsworthy events are happening at Rosedell Women in History - usually occurs in March or April the State PTA selects a theme celebrating women in history, the committee head coordinates information and sometimes people to play the women in history selected for that year. Hospitality - Year round as needed to arrange refreshments at various events. Volunteer Coordinator - Year round to help coordinate volunteers for various events. Red Ribbon Week - is a week long event in October that encourages students to stay drug free. Valentines Grams - Coordinate Valentines grams filled out but students and send them to appropriate classroom so they are in the classroom on February 14th. Yearbook - Looking for several people to help with yearbook and one person to oversee/head up Yearbook Committee(this is a year round position) The Yearbook Committee collects pictures from various events and puts them in digital format for the Yearbook at the end of the year. The company who prints the yearbook will also give some guidance through the process. Marquee - Year round (a dad would be great at this!) Takes care of updating the marquee once every one to two weeks depending on the amount of events going on. Talent Show - Usually is in February and March is responsible for coordinating tryouts, rehearsals and talent show. Mother/Son Event - Coordinates a event for Mothers/Grandmothers and sons such as dance or some other event. Father/Daughter Event - Coordinates a event for Fathers/Grandfathers and daughters such as dance or some other event. Thanks for your help. Together we make Rosedell Shine!
Box Tops & Labels for Education - GREAT NewsWe recently received our first Box Tops check this year for over $1,500! And we will get another check in April for over $1,150 more! But we are not done yet. Keep clipping Box Tops and turn them in any time. Collection sheets are in every classroom and in the office. You may also turn in your Tops in a plastic baggie or an envelope. Trim and count them(if possible), write your student's name and classroom# then send them in. Remember that we cannot turn in expired Tops. Our final contest is in May and our goal is $3,000. We are so close. It's easy to collect Box Tops. You may already have Box Tops on products you've already purchased. Check out cereal boxes, granola bars, fruit snacks, produce,
pens, printer ink and paper, binders, and more for the little Box Tops that bring in BIG CASH for our school! Labels for Education Spring Bonus Offer- We need Pepperidge Farms and Campbell's labels! LFE has a special promotion now that will earn Rosedell 5 times the points! To earn the 50 bonus points collect: • 5 UPCs from any Pepperidge Farm® participating products(Goldfish, cookies, etc) • 5 UPCs from any Campbell family brands participating products. These labels are worth points that we can use for books for our library, classroom supplies, and playground equipment. We really appreciate every label we receive! Love Bags and Mrs. Fields Fundraiser - Orders will be delivered Tuesday, Apr 23!The products will be available to be picked up in the MPR from 1-4pm on Tuesday, April 23rd. 2013-2014 School Calendar
The Saugus School Board has approved the 2013-2014 school calendar. Click here to go to the district website to open the full calendar. Here are some important dates: First Day of School - August 14, 2013 Fall Break - October 7-11, 2013 Winter Break - December 20, 2013 - January 10, 2014 Spring Break - April 7-11, 2014 Last Day of School - June 17, 2014 Yearbook Pre-Sale (2012-2013)Yearbook presale is currently happening. Your order form was sent home. If you need more, you can pick up and order form at the front office (checks payable to Rosedell PTA). Standard yearbook is $25, Personalized yearbook is $30. You can also pay online with a credit card at https://ybpay.lifetouch.com/. The yearbook ID Code is 2630713. Orders must be received by March 28th, 2013.
Yearbook Special Message SectionThis year's yearbook will have a place set aside for special messages from parents or other friends. Each mesasge will cost $10 and can include a maximum of 180 characters, total. Flyers are going hom this week. If you do not receive a flyer, you can pick one up in the front office.
Penny Wars!The wars are over! Penny Wars, at least. Thank you Rosedell families for participating in the PTA fundraiser for SmartBoards. we raised over $2,000 this week in this friendly competition among grades. Second grade ended the week with 2,214 points, which makes them the winning grade. They will enjoy a day of free seating at lunch adn a banner in the lunch area announcing their victory. Mrs. Hankla's kindergarten class collected $113.18, which means they get a free recess on the big play yard.

Their volunteer time made this a huge success! Talent ShowRosedell will be holding their annual Talent Show in February, look for the flyers to come home this month with the tryout dates. Shop Online - Earn E-BoxTops for Rosedell!! Since it's holiday time it's also shop online time. Performing Arts Center Assemblies: The PTA continues our partnership with the Performing Arts Center. These high quality events include the “bus in” performances at the Center and in-house assemblies at Rosedell. Bus-ins shows have limited tickets for parent chaperones. Teachers will select chaperones from their parent volunteer lists. The school assemblies are open to all parents. Click here for dates and more information.
